Introduction to ISWAA

ISWAA is an independent, non-governmental, non-profit and charitable organization. It works under its own Memorandum of Articles of Association and leadership. It has no affiliation with any regional ethnic or political organization of Sri lanka or anywhere in the world. It supports those involved in Muslims' religious based activities, social development and spiritual needs of the communities, educational, social justice, sustainable development and human rights and works to enable them to fulfill their potential in the Muslim society. Through its various projects, ISWAA provides support structures to encourage the positive engagement and integration of the youth in their social environment. It also aims to help assist towards diffusing social tensions, and protect Muslim youth from extremism and such trends that result in social instability. ISWAA is Located in Nintavur Divisional secretariat area of Amparai District , Eastern Province , Sri lanka.

Our Registration

  • The ISWAA is registered with the Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs. Reg. No: MRCA/13/6/AM/33 of 21st April 2004.

  • It is also registered with the District Secretariat of Nintavur.  Reg. No: NTR/SS/38 of 18th October 2005.

Objectives of the ISWAA

    • To prepare and guide Muslims to lead and conduct their spiritual and material lives according to correct Islamic precepts;
    • To propagate the teachings of the Holy Quran and the traditions of the Holy Prophet Mohammed (Peace by upon him);
    • To promote mutual understanding and friendship among different communities by holding of seminars, symposia and dialogues;
    • Intervening in matters affecting Islamic principles and values;
    • To provide assistance to Muslim students for their educational upliftment
    • To encourage the learning of Arabic language;
    • To establish libraries at village level to cultivate the reading habit amongst Muslims
    • To set up a bureau to collect and preserve data relevant to the Muslims of Sri Lanka & other countries
    • To encourage Muslim women to play a greater role in religious affairs and observances and to contribute towards social platform and
    • To serve the Muslim community and others through welfare activities and to save the Muslim community from the influence of other destructive forces exploiting poverty, destitution and miserable conditions such as natural calamities, man-made disasters, etc.
    • Zakat and Fitra Distribution
    • Meat Distribution (from Eid-ul-Adha / Festival of the Sacrifice & other occasions).
    • Scholarship Assistance (limited).
    • Referrals for family counseling & employment (limited).
    • Networking for the access, sharing and dissemination of information Preserve the identity of Muslim and help overcome the problems they face in modern society.
    • Educate and train them in order for them to become active and positive citizens in their countries.
    • Introduce Islam to non-Muslims in its purest form as a comprehensive system and way of life.
    • Establish a relationship through dialogue, understanding and appreciation among Muslim organizations and the western societies.
    • Providing the basics for the needy such as food, clothing, medicine, and shelter with assist   INGOs and other Assistance organization.
    • Provide assistance to Muslim and non-Muslim organizations to fulfill these goals through Training and cooperation.
    • Assisting development and advancement of poor communities through helping them invest their human and financial resources in the most efficient ways so that they become self-sufficient.
    • To provide educational guidance and tinaairal assistance to those who embrace Islam.

 Dawwah unit

    • To prepare and guide Muslims to lead and conduct their spiritual and material lives according to correct Islamic precepts.
    • To propagate the teachings of the Holy Quran and the traditions of the Holy Prophet Mohammed (Peace by upon him).
    • Intervening in matters affecting Islamic principles and values.
    • To encourage the learning of Arabic language.
    • Zakat and Fitra Distribution.
    • Meat Distribution (from Eid-ul-Adha / Festival of the Sacrifice & other occasions).
    • Introduce Islam to non-Muslims in its purest form as a comprehensive system and way of life.
    • To encourage Muslim women to play a greater role in religious affairs and observances and to   contribute towards social platform and.
    • To provide weekly , monthly, yearly Islamic conference.

Social welfare and cultural unit 

  • Providing the basics for the needy such as food, clothing, medicine, and shelter. 
  • Providing relief aids in cases of wars, natural disasters, epidemics, famines, and similar circumstances 
  • Provide more options before Funding Agencies to select the right choice of organization to support and work with. 
  • Sharing of ideas among NGOs and development agents. 
  • To encourage Muslim women to play a greater role in religious affairs and observances and to contribute towards social platform   and 
  • To serve the Muslim community and others through welfare activities and to save the Muslim community from the influence of other destructive forces exploiting poverty, destitution and miserable conditions such as natural calamities, man-made disasters, etc.


Education Development unit.

    • Assisting in developing human resources of needy communities through eradicating illiteracy, education and training. 
    • To provide training and support to Muslim youth organizations in order to help them better fulfil their objectives. 
    • Organize conferences, symposia, workshops and research circles to address youth and students issues. 
    • Educate and train them in order for them to become active and positive citizens in their countries.
    • Preserve the identity of Muslim help overcome the problems they face in modern society.
    • To promote mutual understanding and friendship among different communities by holding of seminars, symposia and dialogues.
    • To provide assistance to Muslim students for their educational up liftment, 
    • To encourage the learning of Arabic language. 
    • To establish libraries at village level to cultivate the reading habit amongst Muslims. 
    • To recognize the Quranic matharasa and change to modern world. 
    • To provide modernization  Islamic mondersury ( Nursury).

Economical development unit

  • Assisting development and advancement of poor communities through helping them invest their human and financial resources in the most efficient ways so that they become self-sufficient.
  • To provide the idea to invest the Islamic business.
  • To  encourage the Islamic saving system.
  • give to the Muslims  of Knowledge of halal and haram.
  • Assist the financial to poor family.
  • To provide the loan for needy peoples by Islamic laws.
